Kangaroo Is Delicious

November30

Finally cooked some Kangaroo, it is delicious! A bit more flavor than beef, a touch of delicious gamey taste maybe? Love it and bought a bunch more. Nick also likes it. Next time I need to do higher heat and cut down on cook time too.

New Challenge + Finished Ones

November29

I finished my challenges to go 30 days vegetarian, and one to eat no sweets. The veggie one was not too bad, and I felt very good. The sweets one I failed as I had a piece of pie thanksgiving, but otherwise was pretty easy too.

I’m going to try a 20 day challenge with a friend. The challenge is to eat good meats (chicken, fish, etc), vegetables, hand ful of nuts a day, a max of 5 eggs per 3 days, and a max of 1 fruit a day. 3 proper meals per day with absolutely no snacks. Plus a minimum of 7 hours of sleep (i try to do that anyway). And take pictures of every meal, so 60 pictures when done. You are allowed 2 carb days over that period if you want too. What can you not eat? Beans, carbs, dairy, potatoes and starches, lots of fruit, sugar of any kind even honey. That kinda thing. I think this is paleo?

This will be interesting. A weird shift coming off the no meat diet.

Going Vegetarian + Morning Switch

November21

I’m on day 24 of my 30 day challenge to go vegetarian. So far it has been pretty easy and I’ve felt really good. During college and after I went pretty often without eating meat just because it was expensive and a pain to cook. I’m not sure I ever went 30 days but definitely a week or two pretty often. I was worried I would have less energy but I’ve actually had more, and felt a lot better (stomach etc). My running ramped up too but I didn’t really notice any difference when finishing long runs. So I’m going to cut down on the amount of meat I eat once this is over and see if I stay at the same energy levels and still feel good. And just eat chicken, fish, and kangaroo.

I’ve always been a night person, usually staying up to 2am or later to get my best work done. But because of DST and time zones I’m now waking up early for the first time in a very long time. Today marks the 4th consecutive day I’ve been awake prior to 8am since 2004 and maybe even 1999 (high school). In fact I woke up at 6am or 6.45am 3 of those days to make calls.
We will see how this goes but it’s been ok so far, although very odd to have no energy at the end of the day, and I feel like a member of AARP going to sleep so early.

This is bwb’s personal blog, so he can share his thoughts with the world, however scary or silly they might be. Plus family and friends can track what I am up to, and where I am in the world.

I am pretty simple. I love Mangos. I love the ocean (although mostly at sunset, as I’m a ginger). I love to travel, eat exotic food, do long bike rides, read, and use my imagination. At some point, I decided it was better to be a pirate captain than an admiral. I am a globalist and see the entire world as my responsibility and playground. And I am married to an amazing woman who makes life even more fun :)! And we are now the proud parents of Calico Jack :).
